Spellforce 2 faith in destiny pc game review

However, because Diablo III's release on 15 May 'may possibly cause a global decrease in productivity,' Nordic Games decided to postpone the release date until June 19, Four years have passed since the Shaper was conquered by the power of the Archfire. Four years in which scientists, dragons and inventors have tried to find a way to counter the deterioration of the portal - but to no avail. The portal network has broken down and the islands are completely cut off from one another. The dragons and the Shaikan are the only interface left between the races, but their resources are limited.

The new enemy has been lying low for just such a moment. The races are cut off from one another and the islands are exposed to attackers, who fall upon them from demonic depths. In the midst of this chaos a new hero enters the scenery. He is a simple Shaikan, a member of the Hand, who has embarked on a quest for answers to his deeply disturbing dreams. This quest takes him to the very roots of his race, to the Iron Fields, to the Mountain of the Patriarch Ur.

It is all about his destiny, about his soul. After all it is the only thing he knows. However instead of finding answers he only finds more questions. Who are these daemonic creatures - so abysmally evil that they are known as "The Nameless"? What do the dragons know about the destiny of this world? Many times I cast spells without even being aware of it and the effects seemed almost pointless sometimes. Managing your army is a beautifully ergonomic element of the game and a real success in RTS design, never becoming stressful or unbalanced.

Where it falls down is presentation. The story shudders along and sometimes feels like it was cut into lots of tiny bits and stuck back together with sellotape. If the game was going to be a bigger success it would need to seriously revamp the storytelling and make the world of Eo a place that we can care about rather than just mindlessly churn through until we reach the end and never think about it again.

Average fantasy fare. It could do with being a more prevalent part of the game, as even your cookie cutter fantasy story does well enough in a game given enough exposition. Now this is interesting. Another slightly average part of the game, Faith In Destiny is visually in line with its predecessors, but for a standalone expansion they could have spent a little time making things look a little nicer.

It runs well and is hardly demanding, and the crisp, colourful graphics bring the medieval world of Eo to life sufficiently. Some extra spell effects would have helped bring the slightly dull combat to life too. Recent years have witnessed an impressive growth of the video games industry, both in terms…. What do the dragons know about the destiny of this world? The hero is gradually coming closer to his own destiny through this journey - through conversations, through newly acquired skills and through battles fought against old and new enemies. Wherever he goes - The Nameless are one step ahead of him and an almost futile battle breaks out in which our hero holds not only his own destiny but the destiny of entire Eo in his hands.

PC Gamer. SP2: Faith in Destiny is a mess. All this publication's reviews. RPG Fan. Faith in Destiny is not a good game, and I could not recommend it to anyone. Absolute Games. I imagine that some of the SpellForce fans will love this expansion. For the rest of the world, it's a weird genre hybrid with horrible graphics, silly premise and dubious gameplay mechanics. Here's my thoughts about the game by notes while I played it. Beginning of the story jumps straigh to a dialogue hard to pick up needs to be corrected by devs. It's better than most mmo's around anyway I've seen the graphics argument on youtube and it's ridiculous, pure gratuitous bashing.

Never seen in a RTS besides mmo's. All in all it's a fundamental "must have" on rts based games ownership. There isn't much of this kind of quality games anymore and if you're a fan already of the series, it can be easily purchased on steam for example. Look for gameplay videos on youtube and check the site out and decide for yourself if it's worth or not, at least it's not a hyped game and from big corps advertising it everywhere and promising what they don't deliver.

This is just my recommendation. I like it. It's not a simple stand-alone addon, rather than a worthy successor, respectively continuation of the Spellforce Series. Please sign in or create an account before writing a review.

User score By date Most helpful view. This game is actually not worth it's price. It has what made the Spellforce franchise great, but it's short and i'll risk to say that it has the worst story of all the Spellforce series, based on the cliche that you have to do everything "because it's your destiny".

However, if you like Spellforce mechanics you can still find this game enjoyable, and if you like the single player free mode This game is actually not worth it's price. However, if you like Spellforce mechanics you can still find this game enjoyable, and if you like the single player free mode it will be worth it for you.

Beware, however, that you won't be able to play with your friends if they own this game because the servers exist no more. You may try to find a way to play online with a program like hamachi, but I can guarantee that it won't be easy. This review contains spoilers , click expand to view.

Avoid this one like the plague, pick up Shadow Wars or Dragon Storm instead. I completely understand subjectivity in user reviews, but "professional" critics are those that disappoint me ever so often. I played all Spellforce games expansions included and LOVED every single one of them despite all the flaws, bugs and such.

But this one is different. This game somehow managed to distort all those pleasant memories into something horrible. I'll keep it short. This I completely understand subjectivity in user reviews, but "professional" critics are those that disappoint me ever so often.

Graphics aren't the problem, this game sucks on so many levels, there's nothing new besides a couple of new enemy units, story is horribly generic and uninteresting, it's TOO SHORT, voice-over is BAD, cut-scenes are garbage, everything looks like some unfinished product of developer's barren minds. I like it. It's not a simple stand-alone addon, rather than a worthy successor, respectively continuation of the Spellforce Series.

The new levels are challenging but looking pretty good. Thumbs up and I hope we will get some DLC for it.
