Wait time to check in. I loved the customer service and the attentive staff, from the hotel to the private island, everything was perfect! Cost of food with such small proportions. The private island, pool next to beach. The bathroom for the room we selected was pretty tight, but clean nonetheless and very cute! I like the open concept, the Starbucks downstairs blew me away given at our previous hotel we could barely get a decent cappuccino!
I know, 1st world complaints but a Starbucks downstairs was impressive to us! Flamingo Island. I can't wait to come back to Aruba and stay again! The pool is nice and the staff are so helpful. You have to go to Flamingo Island. No complaints. The staff treat you like family. Was beyond expectations especially in Covid. Breakfast was nothing special. Not much variety of things to choose from. Absolutely loved the private island experience!
The price per night. Great location and awesome private beach. Rooms on the adult side was a bit small. Property was clean and staff was very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. First was the mattress. It was old and offered very little support. The second is the gauging price of the cabana rentals on Renaissance Island that includes very little.
The location is great. Easy access to some great restaurants in town, close to casino and Marketplace. I loved the pool area, private beach and the restaurants on site. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The property sits on the side of the water and not the beach. In order to get to a beach type atmosphere you have to take the small boat to the private island which is absolutely amazing. The flamingos were cute to take a picture with. The buffet breakfast was delicious and if you get it included in your room rate you can eat at 3 different locations.
The place is called Aquarius in the hotel, the other place is called Ocean Suites, and the final breakfast place is on Flamingo island. The front desk staff was excellent. A huge shoutout to Haysem who went above and beyond to make our honeymoon the best. The crazy thing was when we were leaving from the airport, Haysem also worked at the front desk there as well.
He upgraded us to first class for FREE! Absolutely amazing! We took every time breakfast on the island, delicious food. We slept at the ocean view apartments, the view was worth! Room setup, can hear all hallway noises, no hot tubes on site. The king sized bed was comfortable. However, the pillows were flat and very uncomfortable. There was a problem with the toilet making flushing noises throughout the night.
We addressed it with the front desk but it was not fixed. Noisy late night hotel guests in the hallways made sleep difficult. The Renaissance Marina is a beautiful hotel in an excellent location. The staff members were friendly and accommodating.
However, the Renaissance provided this service. The breakfast in the hotel was served quickly and was quite tasty. We especially loved the adults only private beach. My sister could not get enough of the beautiful flamingos. I enjoy every single thing about this hotel. From the time we entered the doors and though out the entire stay every single staff member was absolutely outstanding. Everyone was very attentive and informative.
Covid precautions very much so kindly and respectfully reinforced. My birthday was very special. They made sure I had everything I ordered for my birthday and also sent me a a wonderful delicious mini cake the morning of my birthday I would recommend Renaissance to anyone that wants to stay in a beautiful, pleasant, easy access, safe environment, and in the center of everything.

Boat taxi begins in the hotel and then goes under the road very much like a bar cave! The island is beautiful and 6 flamingos wander around or run if pursued by over zeleaus tourists. Day passes 90 dollars each if not staying at hotel. Island was quiet. Would love to stay at hotel for longer. We stayed at the Renaissance Hotel for 2 nights for a brief visit to Aruba. We stayed in a resort view room which wasn't quite what we expected as it overlooked the back street of the resort.
The rooms were comfortable. We note however that the bathroom sliding door had a big gap between the door and the wall meaning there was little privacy. We found the staff we interacted with during our stay very friendly and the resort reasonably priced for food and drinks. The resort complex is conveniently located to shops and the marina with numerous eating options.
The boat to Flamingo island leaves from the canal under the hotel every 15 mins. We hired a cabana for the day at flamingo beach. It was definitely worth it for what is included and given there is minimal shade at the beach in the afternoon. It would have been good though if the staff reinforced the 'no trespassing' to the cabana area as it became annoying with people constantly entering our cabana to take photos.
Upon check out we were charged twice we changed the check in card to another card to finalise the bill. The hotel has not been as responsive as we would expect in resolving this matter and it remains outstanding at the time of writing this review. Other hotels have managed to deal with this swap with no issue. If we were to stay in the Renaissance complex again we would stay in the ocean suites next time.
Looking forward to welcoming you back at the Ocean Suites on your next visit to Aruba. Regards, Parimal Trivedi Director of operations. My husband and I have been travelling to Aruba for about eight years now and we cannot say enough about the wonderful staff at the Renaissance Resort and Casino!
A big hello and thank you go out to our friends there Washington Jean and Heidi at L. Smiths Steak house where the food and hospitality is superb. In the Aquarious restaurant Betty Daisy and the ladies there are most hospitable warm friendly and accommodating and the food is amazing especially if you love seafood!
We could not forget the wonderful happy smiles we get all day while being well hydrated from the staff at Blu Bar and Restaurant from Elizabeth Surjeiy and all the staff. Awesome vacation every time we go. Hopefully we can make it again come March! Mari and Steve. Best bartender ever at pool bar-Rodmar. Loved Renaissance Island. Rooms were not as clean as I expected. Ocean view room was mostly pool view but live music by the pool every evening was a bonus from the balcony.

The staff, especially the ones at the reception desk, seemed very disinterested in helping guests out.
Be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes to check-in if you arrive around 4pm. I saw a single long line everyday and they did not care if you were an elite member. The staff never greeted or smiled whenever I walked pass. Whenever I walked up to a reception desk to ask a question, the staff would look at me blankly with the "what do you want? Room was great but not soundproofed so you could hear your neighbor talking and guests walking at the corridor.
We stayed only 3 nights and we were wrongly charged twice the amount aprox. I only noticed my card was maxed out completely when I received a notification from the bank that I had missed a mortgage payment, was going to incur overdraft charges and other bills were not going through - which was an extremely stressful way to end our holiday.

The hotel has two pools. We mainly used the one with the swim-up bar late afternoon after being on the private island and for happy hour!!!
I also went in the beach lagoon area by the pool - water was warm but it felt a bit dirty and stagnant. The hotel is located next door to a small mall of shops which is very convenient and it's a five minute walk to the Marina Tower. After our check-in experience I had wished I was staying in the Marina Hotel but over the course of the holiday the Ocean Suites grew on me and I think the Marina is actually very noisy and I've heard the rooms are quite small.
Now the real reason why people should choose this hotel is the private island. It is fantastic. We never had to wait more than a couple of minutes for a boat. The ride there and back is short and enjoyable. The island is beautiful. I went on both sides and to be honest didn't notice that one was supposed to be adults only as there were children on both.
We had drinks at the bar but didn't order food we enjoyed the short trip back to the Marina Hotel at lunchtime and ate in town. The snorkelling was great! Yes the planes are difficult to ignore but we both enjoyed watching them land, especially the bigger aircraft. The beach at the Marriott was very crowded - we didn't stay. Instead we drove further along the coast towards the Californian Lighthouse and stopped at a more secluded cove which had great snorkelling too.
We spent one full day visiting Curacao. It rained all day in Curacao which did impact on our ability to enjoy the day however we hired a car and had a good drive round, visited the Sea Aquariam and ate at Rodeo House of Ribs good food. Aruba is great for a beach holiday however I'm not sure I will be returning anytime soon as there are too many other great beach locations still to explore!
My wife and I had a spectacular visit to Aruba! Our stay at the Renaissance was fabulous. From check-in to check-out our stay was marvelous. The hotel was clean. The staff was responsive and willing to help. The pool was exceptional with great service. The adult side of the private island was splendid and beautiful. We never had to wait long for the ride to the private island and the boat ride was enjoyable.
The food was a little pricey on the island; however, it was good and tasty. We plan to revisit with our children. You must try Iguana Joes - great, great restaurant with friendly service. From the moment we were greeted by the bellboy to the end of our stay - the staff was amazing!
The rooms are very clean, the staff exceptionally friendly and the private island was an amazing treat. Daily happy hour, cold towels provided at poolside, spend the day floating on the water or snorkling on private island. Good tanning! Marine was not nearly as loud as I'd expected. We arrived in Aruba Oct. This was our first time in Aruba and we both look forward to going back soon. I did alot reseach regarding this and several other hotels in Aruba, but decided to stay at the Renaissance due to the reviews I read and also the private island.
We had a great time relaxing, which is why we chose Aruba. The weather was very nice with only a couple of rain showers in the morning which passed quickly. The hotel room was average and alittle on the small side. We always had a clean room, no matter what time we left for breakfast. Everytime we came back from breakfast to change for the beach they had already cleaned our room. The Blue bar in the hotel offers happy hour from to everyday and is a very nice place to relax before going out to dinner.
We ate at several restaurants including the two at the hotel. We had dinner in the steak house and then went to see the Latin show, dinner was very good and the latin show was okay. The other restaurant in the hotel sorry can't remember the names was average. The other two that I would definitely recommend is El Gaucho's very good and Flying Fishbone with reservations we had a table right on the water where our feet got wet. The restaurant was very romantic. The best for last, the private island.
I can't say enough about it! It is a 10 min. Please make sure you note when you get off the boat that to the left is the family beach with towels and restaurant. The right side is for adults with topless sunbathing. My suggestion would be that they put signs up so the guests would note this.
My husband and I were there for a relaxing vacation and loved the idea we did not have to deal with small children. I have nothing against children as I have two of my own, but this was our vacation. I would recommend Aruba and this hotel for a relaxing vacation. We rented a jeep for one day, which is all you need. Aruba has very few road signs, if you look on the first building of the road the name is on the house or building.
Driving was pretty easy and the people were very friendly. We are looking forward to returning in the near future. Skip to main content. Log in to get trip updates and message other travellers. Friendly service, and a very helpful concierge who booked us several tours. We're not the type to lay on the beach all day, so we loved the location of the hotel. It's near downtown Oranjestad and where the cruise ships come in, so there's always a lot going on.
